An Explanation

I decided to pay tribute to a writer that has recently caught my attention by incorporating the title of his famous book in my blog title. Michel de Montaigne, titled the collection of his essays, "Essais," which translated directly means something close to "attempts." They are an incredible insight to the man who wrote them and provocative in their themes.
His note to the reader states, "Here, drawn from my life, you will read of my defects and my native form so far as respect for social convention allows: for had I found myself among those peoples who are said to still live under the sweet liberty of Nature's primal laws, I can assure you that I would most willingly have portrayed myself whole, and wholly naked."
Thus, the content of this blog will largely reflect my adventures and the "essais" that I experience while contemplating what I have learned. Welcome to my journey.

About Me

Dave Rackham
As I grow older and gain more experience in life, I find that in some regards similar I am similar to a painting--the interpretation of the painting depends in great measure on the approach that is taken. I am a 23 year old student in my last semester studying Psychology at Brigham Young University. When I am not busy with work or school I enjoy rock climbing, mountaineering, camping, good music and literature, engaging conversations and thinking about life. This blog is my attempt at revealing to others the multiple facets of my life and also an insight to my own soul as I learn and discover in greater detail who I really am.
